OLS-SETON CAMPUS HIRES VETERAN SCIENCE TEACHER BARBARA BETZA
Award-Winning Teacher Led M-E to Eight Science Olympiads; Won Respect of Colleagues
Endicott, NY – OLS-Seton Campus is pleased to announce the addition of their newest middle-school faculty member, veteran area science teacher Barbara Betza. Well known and respected by colleagues and students alike, Mrs. Betza coached M-E to four NYS Science Olympiad championships and four top-10 finishes in the national competition, while on the faculty of M-E High School. At OLS-Seton Campus, Betza will teach middle-school science classes. She replaces Teresa Michaeli who retired this summer after more than 30 years of teaching, 25 of those years with Catholic Schools of Broome County.
Mrs. Betza is NYS Certified in Biology and Chemistry, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from St. Joseph’s University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude, and a Master of Arts degree in Teaching from Binghamton University where she was Valedictorian of her Master of Arts Teaching class.
Her numerous awards include the DuPont Distinguished Achievement Award, Science Education Outstanding Coach Recognition, and New York State Science Olympiad Inspirational Teacher Award.
Most recently Mrs. Betza was Manager of School Programs at Roberson Museum & Science Center. She is a member of the National Science Teachers Association, the National Science Olympiad, and the Sigma XI Research Society.
OLS-Seton Campus also welcomed a new second grade teacher this Fall, Jennifer Casiuk, who previously served as a first grade teacher at St. John’s in Binghamton.
